The Sailor's Cove a corner of New England in Second Life

There's an expression in New England: "If you don't like the weather, wait ten minutes." The expression refers to New England's location on the eastern side of North America's continental climate. For those of us who visit the New England through Second Life, we have to change the light as you like.. For our Second Life we are ever and ever in summer.

New England is a six-state region in the northeast corner of the United States of America. Although it is one of the oldest settled parts of the US, most of the area (except the coastal areas of eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and southwestern Connecticut) retains a rural charm and low population. Most of the area is well-travelled and has a thriving tourist industry. Although some of the popular attractions may seem corny to some people, there are many hidden gems to be found in New England.

New England has a shared heritage and culture primarily shaped by waves of immigration from Europe

I had already visited this sim and every time I return I am excited about what I see: wooden houses, sailing boats in the marina. Living this sim is as to live in real life

I'm not afraid of storms, for I'm learning how to sail my ship.

Red Square in Second Life

For those who lived through the times of the Cold War a walk in Red Square it is difficult to describe in words. It is surrounded by symbols that once belonged to a world so far away as to seem impossible. It's one of the most beautiful squares in the world, so full of history and culture. A holding of surprises.

I absolutely fell in love with Moscow. It's one of those places where you can't help but trip over history at every turn. It's a city of enormous contradictions. The Red Square is a huge inspiration for me. I love what I find here, I love being here.

Красная площадь место, чтобы прийти, но также символ вступления в мир SL для российских аватары
Во-вторых Жизнь столкновение между народами, и это сим возможность для обмена культуры и самобытности

Second Life is the encounter between peoples and this sim is an opportunity for an exchange of culture and identity. Red Square is the place to come, but also a symbol of the entry to the world of SL for Russian avatars

Norway sim...a nice place....

Sl often gives us opportunities and surprises ... Norway, is more of a surprise ... because those who have visited in the rl found here...

I often come to this sim .... maybe because when you know and meet people who live it can not give up. Maybe I spoke with some of them ... two, three words, but always return because I like to walk on the pier, feel the scandinavian scant.
Caressed by the wind, on top of the hill, my eyes could not stop staring at the Norwegian Sea. That distant sound, the infinite light held me by the hand. The mind flew away, the thoughts were leaving. I felt calm, free.

Norway comes from Nordvegr, the way to N, the path that has brought luck also to the descendants of the ancient Vikings, both for the leading role assumed by the ocean fishing and for the discovery of large oil fields in the Norwegian Sea. Ancient land of conquest, coveted by neighboring nations and beyond (Vicking indicated the head-boat seafood in shipments of western populations of Scandinavia)

The Swedish trolls are small, with a single head. The Norwegian giant troll with three heads. They share a long nose, pointed ears, big feet and tail. Inhabit the caves, they eat mice, insects, worms. They sleep during the day and live at night: they fear the light because the sun can turn them into stone, and are afraid of men who spy without ever being seen.

The builders of this sim have worked hard to design and build here.

Alamo battle in Second Life

SL has always been the bridge between rl and virtual world. The University of Texas has created a very interesting site that draws from history important elements.

"Without the Alamo Texas it would never have existed. Without Texas, the westward expansion of the United States would not have been successful, and without the West, the United States would be limited to an Atlantic power, and they could not rise to world power. Without the United States as a global power, the world as we know it today would not exist "

The Alamo battle - which took place in 1836 between the Mexicans and 200 settlers Texans for Texas indipendence - is one of those myths that in the United States have given a new meaning to the concept of nation and empire that would be derived from this. For Mexico it was just a victory to report, without great fanfare, in one of the many pages of history. But what really happened
Why a battle, it was a defeat, it focuses the deeper meaning of all the North American empire?

Note by owner:

Mission San Antonio de Valero: Erected in 1718 by Franciscan missionaries bringing the Christian faith to Tejas (Texas), this mission served for decades before being abandoned and secularized.  In 1803, the decaying site was used as barracks by the Spanish army, who renamed it 'the Alamo' after the Spanish word for 'cottonwood tree.'  When the merciless Santa Anna discarded the Mexican Constitution of 1824 and became a dictator, American (and Mexican) settlers in Texas rebelled.  Those of the nearby town of San Antonio de Bexar moved into the Alamo fortress, where they stood against the advancing army of Santa Anna -- outnumbered twenty to one

Davy Crockett

David Crockett (August 17, 1786 – March 6, 1836) was a celebrated 19th-century American folk hero, frontiersman, soldier and politician.  He is referred to in popular culture as Davy Crockett and after the 1950s by the epithet “King of the Wild Frontier.”  He represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives, served in the Texas Revolution, and died at the Battle of the Alamo. Crockett grew up in East Tennessee, where he gained a reputation for hunting and storytelling.  After being elected to the rank of colonel in the militia of Lawrence County, Tennessee, he was elected to the Tennessee state legislature in 1821.  In 1826, Crockett was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.  Congressman Crockett vehemently opposed many of the policies of President Andrew Jackson, most notably the Indian Removal Act.  Crockett's opposition to Jackson's policies led to his defeat in the 1834 elections, prompting his angry departure to Texas shortly thereafter.  In early 1836, Crockett took part in the Texas Revolution and, in March, was killed at the Battle of the Alamo.Crockett became famous in his own lifetime for larger-than-life exploits popularized by stage plays and almanacs.  After his death, he continued to be credited with brazen acts of mythical proportion.  These led in the 20th century to television and movie portrayals, and he became one of the best-known American folk heroes.
