Aquitaine...la belle

There is the smell that comes from the west with the wind. A few kilometers, the Atlantic Ocean, smells like low tide when the island for territory to sea. I lived in Bordeaux in the years of my university studies. So I have learned to understand the real reasons of French history by reading Montaigne and Montesquieu. Who lived here remember that Paris has made the revolution but Bordeaux has imagined.

The Aquitaine region is allthe revolutionary thoughts and look to the ocean

The gray market behind, and the blue goes before
This is the biggest white, I'll sell frank
Blue is very small, I will sell six francs

The King of Aquitaine
If he comes to the market
To serve the Queen
Send for me
The King of Aquitaine
I take the hand
So much for the queen

White has rubies, diamonds and blue
The gray has crowns, and his sword to the side
The best blue loves me, and I prefer the white

from Wikipedia: Eleanor of Aquitaine (Bordeaux, 1122 - Fontevrault, 1 April 1204) was Duchess of Aquitaine andGascony and Countess of Poitiers, from 1137 to his death, and was Queen consort of France from 1137 to 1152 and then of England from 1154 in 1189. He was also a patron of the troubadours, in his luxurious court Aquitane. When the queen was in France held court in Poitiers (reactivating it after years of neglect), and followed especially its interests in Aquitaine. In 1170 Eleonora managed to give the fourth-born son Riccardo possessions of Biscay, Aquitaine and Poitou. The court was haunt of artists and troubadours, including Bernard de Ventadour, with whom Eleanor had a brief but intense relationship, and the Normans Benoît de Sainte-Maure and Robert Wace; He had contacts with Arnaut Guilhem de Marsan, Lord of Marsan, who had composed a guide to good behavior of the rider.According to André le Chapelain, Eleonora created a literary court with her daughter Mary, patroness of trouvère Chrétien de Troyes, around 1170; But it would seem that the courses of love praised by André were exaggerations to flatter against Philip Augustus (of which he was a cleric) to defame Eleonora.
